What opinions are out there about Leather VS Cloth. I will use my truck mostly to commute to work, I also farm and will be in pretty dirty dusty conditions. What will be my best bet on keeping clean?
I have had both and will always have leather from now on. I had the cloth a few years back, but had to keep covers on them when at the races to keep the mud off. Next thing I know I am leaving the covers on all the time just to keep them clean. With the leather you can do a quick clean with a damp cloth, and keep them looking like the day you bought it with the Zaino stuff. Be sure you get the heaters with the leather though ... very cold in the winter. If you USE a truck the leather makes a lot of sense.

Leather: Have only owned one vehicle with leather so far, 97 GMC Suburban. I was changing the oil one day and had three cans of spray paint in the front passanger seat inside one of those plastic bags that all the merchants use now. My 4 year old daughter was playing in the burb and dropped the sack with all three cans over the rear of the front seat, the can rims bumped together on impact and ruptured one of the cans on the floor board. Dark brown paint went everwhere rapidly. It wiped of with a T-Shirt and Paint thinner. Some was left in the carpet under the second seat but not bad. Just think if I had had cloth seats!
2003 CC D/A on order, order picked up this week. Waiting for build date, all leather.
Leather gets thumbs up. Bought fabric in 2000 gmc big mistake could never get comfortable in the seat, went back to leather buckets in 2002 gmc, love em'
good luck

I am just the opposite..I had leather in my 2000 Z71 and went back to cloth in my Dmax..
For one, the leather option isn`t worth the extra money,IMO...Leather seating surfaces..Front seats only..
when anyone would ride in the back on a long trip they would always opt for a blanket to set or lay on..
poke a hole or tear leather and you are done..
I hate the look of the leather in tall trucks after time..The rolling over the edge of the seat getting in and out of the truck really wrinkles the edge and I have seen them crack-split in time in that area..(Dodges mainly)..
I find the comfort of the cloth is as good or better on long trips..IMO
The fabrics they use nowadays really wears well..
Leather is nice and has its advatages, but with the belly skin they use now adays, I just can not see paying the extra bucks..
I had cloth in my other 97 CC....it held up nice but I like the leather in the 02 DMAX better. As the previous posts it is easier to clean as I am in a dusty / muddy enviornment alot.
Here is an earlier thread (you may do a search for leather, cloth, and leather vs cloth with a subject only search, too):

I will stay with cloth. It's cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter. The leather, to me, is hot in the Summer and cold in the Winter. Most of the "leather" isn't leather. Correct me if I am wrong, but the center of the seat (where you sit) is vinyl and not leather. I did not like the way it eventually cracks, even with good maintenance. Watch the seams where it is sewn Keep a close eye on them as you approach the end of your warranty period. If they are cracking, see if warranty will cover replacement. The only leather that I have seen that is of quality to buy again is M-B leather. Good luck, either way you go.

I've got tan cloth now, but plan to have aftermarket upgrade done by Classic Soft Trim in Houston. My husband had a'96 GMC Yukon with grey factory leather that was so pathetic it split at the wear points after less than 40k miles. I really can't see that GM has improved the quality of factory leather over the last few years either, hence my decision to go aftermarket. By the way, I live on a ranch and my cloth seats are really beginning to show the dirt after only 13k miles, and I make a concerted effort to keep this gal spotless...oh well, c'est la vie...
