Does anyone know what the stock aluminum wheels are rated at? I am looking at some new wheels, in particular some Centerline wheels and the highest rating they have is 3200 lbs. I guess that is not going to be a problem because the highest rated tires I can find are about 3300 lb E rated tires.

It seems no one knows The OEM wheel weight rating that is too bad I'd like to know the answer myself. I've been led to believe that Alcoa makes wheels with the highest weight rating and look mucho macho. Stu

The stock PYO's are made by Alcoa and its safe to assume they are rated to at least match the OEM tires. I think the liability involved with putting a wheel rated to carry less weight than the tire would be enormous and GM would not take that risk. Eagle Alloys make a wheel rated at 3420 lbs. The Series 194 is a great looking wheel and will fit the 2500HD's.

Still looking myself.

My stock steel dually wheels are rated at 2440 lbs. They are made by Accuride.

Found a place that sells 2500HD aluminum wheels. By looking at his prices, you could get a pretty penny for your OEM wheels.

And another one. Looks to be the same co.

If you want a spare set of PY0 wheels, with or without tires, eBay is worth a look.

A lot of good info in this thread but still no one knows the answer for sure to the original question 'what is the weight rating of the OEM aluminum wheel'
Also is it more or less than the steel spare that came with the truck,or any standard steel wheels? I load my truck to the max and sometimes wonder whether I should have opted for the steel rather than those fancy wheels. Stu

Well, this info isn't specific to our pyo's, but it should give us an idea. Alcoa rims, the classic eight hole are rated at 3750# per wheel, and their five star is rated at 3415# per wheel. This is for forged aluminum rims, which is what the pyo's are. Cast aluminum rims are not near as strong. Alcoa also makes the Mickey Thompson wheels I believe. I would say our rims would easily handle 3400#, if not more. I got this info from [URL=http://southwestwheel.com] Hope this is a help...

I am getting closer. Looks like Hayes makes the steel wheels.

Still can't find specs on any GM steel wheels except the 3500. The internet sucks. Just no information out there that a guy wants.

Still looking for info on the aluminum wheels.

The best I can figure is Centerline and Weld Racing are high-end companies who cater to people like us and the highest rating they have on their wheels is 3200lbs. This must be a sufficient rating for the maximum ratings for these trucks. Now I guess Alcoa has some wheels that are a little higher but as far as I can tell they only have a couple wheels at most for the single wheel trucks.

I'm not going to worry about it any more and just go with the 3200 lb wheels.
