Any wear problems with either size? Gonna need tires soon on the 2500HD. Just what to see how they look on the truck.

Got some 265 75 r 16's on my 03

Dunlop rover rt's

No bar cranking and no scrubage issues. Heck they are stock sized on 1/2tons. They really dont look much bigger than the stockers.

Leme see if I can go snap some pics of my truck.

Mav,
Check out my page (link in sig)...I have some pics of 285's on stock and 16x8 rims. I personally will not mount 285's on stock rims b/c the narrow rim makes the tire crown which means you have to run much lower air pressure to get the rubber to meet the road. I learned this by trial and error...made it easy to justify new rims! :D

265's are a good fit on stock rims.

FYI...I got 45K miles on my last set of BFG A/T KO's.

Thanks guys.

Lover of Rats.....you can just email it to me if its easier. ;)

Silver Bullet,
Nice pic page.
Crowning of the tire, thats what I was afraid of. 45K is not bad though. I take it it wasn't to bad then? What psi did you have to run to level things out with the tire.

Still want to see more pics. Post em' if you got em'.

I see some have 255/85-16 on their truck. Is this size better to install with the stock wheels? How do they compare to the 285's?

I might look into 255's when it comes time for new treads again. My main concern is that I plow and I dont want any scrubbing issues and I dont want to crank the torsion bars since I will be cranking them a bit durring the winter when I stick the plow up front.

If you are interested in putting some 255/85/16's on your stock 6.5" wide wheels check out the link in my signature. I just put them on yesterday. You probably don't want mud tires, but the size definitely fits the bill. I had very minor rubbing on the drivers side. A ziptie on the plastic wheel well liner fixed that problem and I have more than a half inch of clearance now. You may not have the rubbing problems because the Dunlop Mud Rovers are 33.6" and about 32.5" mounted on the truck. My old BFG All Terrain KO's on my 99 Z71 were only 32" tall on the truck.

No cranking of the T bars? And it just rubbed on the plastic inner fender?

Looks good smile.gif

I've probaby got a total of about 5 turns on the T-bars. I had already cranked them to level the truck out. Notice in the pictures how little of an angle the CV joints have. I'm sure a 1" block and a slight lift in the front won't cause any problems. The look of the truck makes it well worth it.

1BADDMAX,
I seen your truck pics on the other thread. Thats why I brought up the 255's. Looks excellent.

So why the 255/85's and not 285/75's? Just curious what the difference is in inches as measured on the truck? Which is better suited for the stock aluminum wheels?

Thanks for the pics Ratlover.

On edit-Dale Jr. qualified last and just smoked the field to take the pole for the Busch race Friday night.

I went with the 255's because they are narrow enough not to throw crap on the side of the truck. I had 285's on my Z71 and I had all types of dings and scratches from rocks and mud. I would say the 255's are well suited for stock wheels as they are recommended to run on a 6.5 to 8" wide wheel whereas the 285's recommend a 7.5 or larger width wheel. Overall I like them. They make the truck look much better. Drove 150 miles on the interstate today and they did fine. A little noisey, but I can always turn the radio up.

Thanks. From what I can find, the Dunlop 255's are the only bigger tire thats rated for a 6.5" rim. It may be the only tire out there.

I see you are in Forest City. I am moving shortly. I am gonna take a ride to Charlotte area and take a look around. How many minutes west is Forest City to Charlotte? How's the housing and jobs in your area?

I just bought new tires from Tire Rack. They told me there was a 2 month back-order for Dunlop Rover A/T's in the 255-85 size so I settled for the 235s. Wish I could have gotten the 255s.

Maverick,

Forest City is located about 70 miles West of Charlotte. Jobs in the county are definitely on the decline. Rutherford County was a textile area, but most of that has gone to Mexico. Cost of living and housing is definitely cheap in this area though.
