Question about Bose stereo

A friend of mine has a 02 GMC Denali truck and he said that his truck has the same stereo as mine except his has a sub under the center console. Is that true? And if so is that something that i could use myself?

documentation I had read said that 03s with the upgraded Bose systems would have the sub in the center console. Mine certainly sounds like it does if you are in the back seat, not as much when you are in the front.
