What was in there before you put the CB in, my 01 has a tape player in there and I cant figure out how to get that stupid thing out so I can mount a cb in there like you did.
My tape player is in the headunit, there was just an open nook to put junk before. I had to take it out cut it to fit then had to grind out another moldedpart behind there to make room.. Trust me if you want to do this take the console out it makes it much easier..
Going to do a bit more shaping on the cutout to make it look right but its getting there..
You have my sympathy on the install smile.gif I too just did the same thing this weekend. (http://home.comcast.net/~tophog/duramax/images/cb/cb.htm)
When the wife entered the garage she thought my truck was on fire from all the smoke from the dremel tool. smile.gif
No fair tophog! Your mic cord was not in the way and you were able to sink yours all the way in!!
Looks good!!

Looks good!! Yeah, but you have more knobs to play with on your CB. smile.gif My only catch 22 is figuring out what to do antenna wise since anything taller then 2' hits my garage door. Might try one of those new Firestik quick disconnect mounts.
;) Hmmmm, LOOKS FAMILIAR :D

That settles it, I am going to run the cord out the side of the bezel and sink that sucker in the dash a bit more!
TPI,
Is that the Full sizer? Looks a little smaller than mine. Must be the Freq. display that makes them look different. I have a G II and a Mirage 88.
While we are at it, who would you recommend to fix my Mirage? All the shaking while mounted up overhead in my Iveco years ago has me dead keying with a likely cold solder joint...
I'll probably pass on mounting in my truck, but I DO have a date with a KICKASS Pioneer DEH-P940MP thanks to Blueox03 (for the suggestion) and Doug@auto-d.com !!!

TPI, before you run the mic cord out the side of the console, try a "right angle mic plug". I used one on my Cobra in a different installation.
This place has some and you might be able to find them locally.

John,
I think the 88 and 99 are a little bit bigger and there are cooling fins in the back, I could shave more out the back and probably fit the 88 in there. I had to cut out about 1/4" around the stock opening where I can tell the other installs in this thread were able to leave the factory bevel around the CB.

took it all apart and my radio was to big, would not go all the way in, all i could do was hang it on the side of the console, only choice i had other than buy a new one, had this one for many years, it is one of the ones that the fcc outlawed, cut 2 wires added a 3 way switch and trippled the channels, looks bad but it is a talker especially with whats under the back seat.

Geno Geno,
None of the above radios went all the way in. The package tray had to be cut out first. There is also a plastic block that the factory use's to mount CD players or cassette players in that has to be removed.
Its not that hard to do and it looks so much better than hanging it somewhere in the truck.
