I walked out of a local ranch supply store yesterday and noticed a 2500HD parked next to mine that looked lifted. It was the tires! They were 315s on stock rims. They looked much better then my 285s and didn't look like they rubbed anywhere. I can't wait til these wear out so I can go bigger. The truck did not have a lift, but the torsion bars may have been cranked a little.

Careful, most manufacturers recommend/approve a minimum of an 8inch rim with a 315 tire. My 305

ranger.....I'm looking at doing the same thing, but I thought I read on here that larger tires would screw up the shifting of the transmision.
Any idea?

Add-on to previous post....these tires would be mounted on 17" wheels.

These tires where 315/75R16s and looked great. They didn't look oversized for the rims at all. I have heard the same thing about 315s are too wide for the stock rims, but they sure did look good. I don't really want wide as much as I want tall. You can't buy a 265/85R16 tires. They don't make them. As for the speed and shifting. The chevy place told me they upgraded my computer for the tires, but I really don't believe they did. I didn't watch them, but I should have. My milage is off about 4.5 mph which is typical. As for shifting, I can not tell any difference from the stock tires when pulling my trailers. So far so good. One of these days I will get a better picture of my truck and put in on the link.

My tire guy told me now I think he said anything bigger than a 265 or 285 I am not sure which you have to go to a different rim. The stock rim will wear the biiger tires kinda funky.
