Eratic Trans Temp

My trans temp has jumped to 260 then 140 and back to 260 several times then settles down to 170. This has happened the last 2 mrngs any ideas .THANKS

Howdy
Some sensors rely on the threads to make a ground contact. Make sure you sensor threads are clean and tight. Might get lucky!

Thanks Dvldog I've checked all wiring and such all OK. This just happened 2 mrngs in a row its now setteled down to 150 on the road. just thought mite be some kind of tranny problem by it riseing and falling so quickley. Been working 7-12s and the last thing I need is to be stranded . Thanks again

My Auto Meter trans temperature guage has taken to readin low for the last few weeks. If it is low and i tap the guage the reading comes up to where it should be. My problem is in the guage, try tapping yours while it is off.

Thanks Howie tried that to. seems to be working fine after those 2 epesoids. I guess i'll just wait It out til the gauge completly gose bad or tranny blows? happy motoring

Have you checked fluid level? I know engine temps can spike like that if it low and hits a steam pocket. The other thing would be to check with a known good temp gauge.

fluid level is where its suposed to be E-mailed vendor he told me to keep an eye on it. And let him know if it dose it again.
