View Full Version : Tar on paint?
What is eveyone using to get tar off your paint? I ran through a huge batch on the highway and need to get it off pronto but dont want to use anything that will scratch the clear coat. Especially you guys with black. Thanks

There are tar removers you can get at your local auto parts store, but I use Gulflite (sp?) lighter fluid...what you use when you are firing up the grill.

WD40!!!!!!!!!
Spray the panel and a little on a soft cloth, works awsome.
It also takes off bugs.
Try it,

I find that Tarminator by Stoner products works very well. Is available in most auto parts stores.
I use WD40 also works great

DeSolv It from Walmart. It's a stronger version of the Goo Gone product. Let it sit for a little and the tar will wipe right off with no damage to the paint.

Mineral Spirits 2 bucks a gallon..Then wash with simple green...
I use wax and tar remover made by Dupont and used in body shops. They need to get all that stuff off before they paint.
