Well I have been doing some research on turbo timers. I know with a duramax's water cooled turbo it aint as critical but it cant hurt right?

Only deal is I would like to also use it as a way to let my truck idel with the key out(actually ways to do that got me investigating them)

Any one have one and what happens if you remove the key and it starts counting down and you put your key back in? Do you take off like normal or do you have to shut down the truck then restart it? I assume the factory alarm wont activate since you lock the doors and the ign is still one right?

I tried contacting HKS, Apexi, and greedy to ask them but they dont have any email support that I can find. Apexi looks cool since its so small....

The only timer I have found that is a direct fit for duramaxes goes strictly off of a thermocouple. I'm not interested in that or an alarm system with a cooldown/start up built in.

Any one know of ones to look at? A plug in deal would be ideal as appose to a universal deal.

I don't think you'll be able to find a "plug-in" type deal if you want to be able to remove the key while its running. You need to tap into the ignition harness at a minimun, and you'll likely need a module to defeat the Passlock II or whatever the factory alarm system is called, as well.

I would look for a remote-start only (no alarm) system with a idle down feature. That's what I did although I've never used the idle down part.

I thought I read somewere that it was 50$ for the deal to take care of the pass lock. I would do a custom install but just prefer the plug and play type thing so to speak.

Remote start might be a possibilty but I want something I can easily change the time on. So I could set it for 1 min for cool down and set it for 3-4 so I can yank my key at the gas station to pay for instance and not wory about some dirtbag lifting my truck.

Turbo timer would be optimum in my mind though.

I found this one call a turbo life-saver. The picture looks like a "plug n play" but I did not go any further to find out.
