What is best truck for VIN for ECM reflash?

I am in the process of converting my '99 K3500 4wd from an automatic to a manual transmission. Does anybody know what syles of truck would be the best to get the vin number for an ECM reflash?
Do I need a 4wd?
What year would be best? I can get numbers from '98-2000 but haven't found a '99 K3500 yet.
Are numbers from a 2500 ok?

probably.....but you never know. reflashers always want to know the exact vin so that 'all the options work'

with that said, i reflashed the 99 tahoe L56 ecm with a never seen, base level, supposed to be an automatic, 15k gvw 3500hd i found on autotrader.com and encountered no problems. ran smooth and powerful all the time.

you might try the autotrader.com route to get a vin for a 99 k3500 or look locally.....
