I am looking to upgrading to a D/A K2500HD. I currently have a '97 K2500HD 6.5L ext cab LB. It has 110K miles on it. Cloth 40-20-40 bench. The truck is in good shape. The interior is excellent, the exterior is good. Its a truck...gets used as such, so there are some scapes and scrathes, but otherwise looks good. What have dealers been giving people for these trucks. I saw in a topic below "Trade in Values" someone was asking about D-Max values. The amount the dealer was giving them seemed very low. I wondered if that would also go for a '97. Kelly Blue Book says I should get somewhere around $15k. That seems high if the '01 D-Max are only getting $22k. Any help would be appreciated. Also if anyone is trading an only taking $22k from the dealer for a year old D-Max, let me know...I'd give you that and then some! :D
Thanks
Chris

Chris, it all gets down to what rebates they are offering and if you are buying invoice to wholesale or retail retail..The rebate usually comes off of your trade-in..They seem to try and do that most of the time..
A buddy of mine traded for a 2002 S-10, he had a 96 premo S-10 to trade-in on it..He qualified for a UAW discount of 2000 bucks then they also had a rebate of 2000 on his model..His 96 booked for almost 6,000 bucks retail..They offered him 2500 dollars for it..So I gave him 3,000 dollars for his truck(to off set the sales tax he had to pay on the 2500) while he was making the deal on the new one..I have been offered 5000 for his old truck..
The S-10 is a great truck it just has the cold engine knock..
Edit:Hey I see you are in Illinois..The local dealer here has 2 2001 Duramax 4 by 4 excab trucks on his lot..with like 300 miles on them..I tryed to buy one of them when I got mine and he just wouldnt get close enough IMO..My guess with the 2003's on the lot he would be more willing now..
Bill Abbott Chevrolet, Monticello Illinois, 20 miles from champaign Il on I-72..217-762-2576 ask for Rodger Williamson..

Thanks "paintdude". I found the web site for Bill Abbott. I could kick myself though...I was in Champaign just today. I live between Bloomington and Peoria. Worden-Martin had a 2003 ext cab LB 4x4 GMC D/A ...I think a 2003 is a little to rich for my blood. I am hoping to find a dealer with a 2002 willing to deal, but I don't know how that will go. Thanks for the tip.

Chris,
How are you coming up with a KBB of 15K. I'm showing around $9500 trade in about 15-16k retail.

Chris, those trucks wont show up on Abbotts Gm webspace..I seen the long bed 03 at warden's a few weeks ago..I drove the 02 xcab pewter one they had..they wouldn`t deal with me..
I ended up buying my truck at Decatur Buick-Gmc..They dealer traded with a dealer in St Louis to get me a Black one..they they cut me a fat deal on it..They have just changed managment and are or were making deals..
You might check out Sullivan Chevrolet in C-U..A buddie of mine just got a 1/2 ton Z71 there for a real good price..
I had to have a GMC..
