I changed out my fuel filter today on my 2004.5 LLY. I took the battery out and the filter was a snap to replace.

I was a little disappointed by the "cheapness" of the plastic water sensor that goes into the bottom however. The shoulder is very small and the plastic it is made of is not the most durable stuff in the world.

Can someone tell me what size closed wrench is used to remove it? It's a big one to be sure.

I used some large pliers and tried to protect things by placing a cloth over it -- but -- I can tell that this part wont survive frequent changes with pliers over the years. I bet that there are many a mangled sensor out there. <grin>

Thoughts/Ideas?

Hi Mark,

Instead of using the jaws of your pliers, use the other end of them. Stick the two handle ends into the slots at the bottom of the filter/sensor and rotate your pliers. A little tough but it works.
