after 2 yrs and 50k miles, (just like the 2001 dmax before it, the 99 6.0 before it and the 96 1/2 5.7 before it) the 2003 2500hd dmax is sold, making way for a 2004 1/2 2500hd with the new motor.

as a farewell, i took it out to my top-secret test strip and ran some 1/4-miles using the attitude performance test feature for the first time. truck weighed 6800# with k&n fipk, jk's 4", 285 revo's and a 2-wheel drive, no brake boost start, the following times and speeds were recorded, with juice on no shift defuel and most responsive fueling:

level 0: 16.2sec@84mph & 16.5@85
level 1: 15.7sec@90mph & 15.6@91
level 2: 15.3sec@92mph & 15.4@92
level 3: 15.1sec@93mph & 15.1@93
level 4: 15.1sec@93mph & limp
level 5: limp and limp

(hot juice 150hp on level 5, 125hp level 4 and 90hp level 3. previous dyno results showed 403hp on level 5, 374hp level 4, 341hp level 3.)

these are my first (and last) limps on the trans which has had juice attached since day 2 and no maintenance to trans. power is obviously getting cut back after level 3 and maybe earlier. it is very noticeable how much longer it takes to shift and how the power builds and builds and then suddenly plateaus.

truck shows no drivability issues at all when not pushed like this despite towing race trailer, equipment trailers and boat trailer all over on high power settings. max egt recorded is 1780 on the isspro digital gauge with slow-to-respond probe.

already have juice+attitude for new truck and will post test results asap.

Those are some good times, considering you have to launch without a powerbrake when using the Edge/Attitude performance option.

Did you disable the Attitude's EGT limiter during any of the runs? If not, I suspect that might explain some of the "plateaus" you saw.

He may also be hitting the Speed Limiter. The later runs all seem to end at 92/93mph.

it didn't feel as 'harsh' as hitting the speed limiter. i've hit it previously at an attitude indicated (corrected for bigger tires) 103ish mph.

i never did hook up the attitude egt function as i already had the SPA digital gauge for that function. as far as the attitude knows, my egt is engine temp!

two things worth mentioning:
after 100k miles (on two different trucks) the bilsteins perform WAY better than the brand new stockers! the new stock shocks on the 2004.5 can be compressed fully by hand while the bilsteins require two hands and a fixed flat surface. ride, handling, sway, lean, bumps...all are much improved with the bilsteins. best money i've spent on the truck.

with the 285's off and the 245's on pyo's back on, the 2003 suddenly looks like a girl's truck. no offense, ladies. conversely, swapping the 285's and america racing rims onto the 2004.5 improved its looks dramatically

lly test data soon
