View Full Version : Might be buying a '94 dually - how is this price?
I stumbled onto a 1994 extended cab (2 door) 4x4 dually. It is in excellent condition. 6.5 and an auto. It has 117K miles. They are asking $9999. What do you think?
Sounds a little steep to me. I booked it on kbb.com for Arizona's ZIP (don't know yours) and it booked at 7950 private party value. Retail I would guess to be around 8800...
Just my .02 man. I booked it as a Silverado with power options and that's about it...
I would hold out for at least a '95.
The interiors are much, much nicer.
KBB for dealer price came out at 10,600. Private party value here worked out at 8600. It all depends on how much trade in value they will give me for my Ranger.

As the owner of two 1994's, I would caution you to PASS on this vehicle. I bought both of mine with similar miles, paying $5,800 for one, and $6,800 for the other including a snowplow.
To date, they have both cost me over $15,000 in repairs, including a new engine in #2 which broke a crankshaft. Both trucks have required extensive work and updated cooling systems to properly tow anything more than their own weight.
I attribute most of their problems to the truck running hot its entire life. It takes a slow toll on PMDs, IPs, cranks, rings, everything.
I would strongly suggest investigating a later model 6.5 with the upgraded, dual thermostat system. Read everything on this site (there is a recently post on this forum by MOREPOWER) about cooling problems with the '94's before purchasing one.
Thanks for the great feedback - I'm going to pass on this one.
