Hellow everybody just picked up my new truck on dec 31st i am new to the diesel I want to do some power upgrades. Though I would start with guages intake and exhaust my question is on the exhaust I live in CA it looke like there is a cat convertor on this truck. Can i remove it or do i need to get an exhaust that will fit like original a cat back system thanks to all and this is the greatest sight

Hey There,

Under no circumstances should you remove the CAT! You will encounter mager problems with the ECM if you do. I have a friend who learned this the hard way. Especially don't do this if you have the LLY engine. What kind of exhaust are you planning to get? Let us know, and post often on any subject and we all will happily help you. Talk to you soon.

I have the same ATS set up as James, and I did take off the CAT. No problems so far, I got pictures in my signatures. Good luck in what ever you do. smile.gif

Welcome Jimmer!

When you're ready to purchase, call John Kennedy. He'll be straight forward and honest. This is the first I've heard of anyone having trouble removing the cat. I didn't add the Cali juice until after 5K miles. I felt it better to put a few on before given the power. I'll tell you what, after 50K, it still seems like it's getting more powerful. Have fun, Chuck.

jimmer....I have a JK system on my truck with no issues as far as the cat missing :D If you want to see one on the truck let me know.
The LLY motor has the new head/injector config and turbo.

A lot of guys, I for one, have removed the cat with no problems. Try to take some rides in trucks with systems you're interested in and the decide. Of coarse if you've got a money tree in your back yard like Diesel5 does, go with the ATS duals, they are sweet!

Nordy,
Kennedy has a good exhaust, Dynomax has one
and there are several more out there, Some are stainless, more $$$. I`m sure other members will chime in here with more info. Good Luck.
