DTC #34 - Stepper Motor

I keep getting a SES #34 ONLY at idle and if I am going up hill an the engine has to work a bit. Of course, the mechanic says IP, but is the stepper motor and the IP the same thing? Any ideas would be appriciated.

I would like to clean the contacts on the PMD but it looks tough to get to the plug - any idea

I read and read this forum and was determined NOT to replace a IP when the truck ran great - just an annoying SES with DTC 34 - (stepper motor timing). The mechanic set it 3 times in the last 8 months and the light just kept coming on.

So I starting cleaning as many connections as I could find. Just cleaned with electronic contact spray, and cleaned. It did not seem to work, in fact this morning going to an appointment, the SES that would come on ONLY at idles and when VERY infrequent on running just went crazy, off, on, off, on, off on at all speeds. Went to my men
