Does anybody know if there is an actual seal on the bottom of the injector cups. My dealership says no.

JODY STUBBS,

I also posted this in the other topic you started on this subject - it may help with future searches on this subject:

I checked the 2001 Helm manuals and this is what I came up with concerning R/R the injector cups:

If the injector cup (sleeve) is removed from the cylinder head when servicing the injector, this is the injector cup installation procedure to follow:

Important
Inspect the injector cup for damage such as scoring. A damaged injector cup must be replaced.

1) Position the new injector cup gaskets to the upper portion of the injector cup.
2) Apply sealant to the lower sealing area of injector cup. The sealant is Locktite 272 or equivalent.

Appears to be a sealant rather than pre-manufactured seal for the lower part of the injector cup.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this information since I have never seen the inside of the Dmax

Hope this helps.

Just saw the insides of my first duramax. The injector cup seals and all. We currently have 1 in our shop for head gaskets. 73,000 miles on a 2001. This was our first Duramax delivered. Sure is not a pretty sight.

Tell me about it. My 01' 3500 was in for a pair of head gaskets last fall with high 80's for miles. One injector later and all is well at 118,000. smile.gif
