View Full Version : Engine Hesitation On The Shift
At WOT with my Edge EZ in any of the 3 positions, my trans has a big hesitation just before the shift, as well as after the shift. In between shifts it pulls hard. I've been told the engine is defueling just before the shift. It's fine without the EZ hooked up. Edge tech support says this is normal. How in the world could anyone bark their tires with lazy shifts like I'm getting. 1500 miles on the fuel filter and controls flashed in December. Shifts fine in normal driving.
More Power

What you're seeing is somewhat normal for a stock tranny. The extra power amplifies the effects of the ECM/TCM pulling fuel for each shift. Add more power, and the worse it seems. You can really see this on a chassis dyno, in terms of rear-wheel power, as the truck is run through the gears.
I can't explain why a stock tranny does that (other than protective programming), but I do know the ATS Allison/Co-Pilot eliminates nearly all of the shift delay. :D
