Mackin - Quest. about 5244 probe

Mac - I think you have the gauge I just ordered - an Autometer Ultralite 4344 (silver/silver). I'm preparing for the install (as soon as it arrives) and need to verify the NPT tap size for the 5244 probe. Their tech support was useless today. Their website says:

"Competition Series Probe Kit
Complete Probe kit includes 3/16" dia. Stainless Racing Probe with 10 ft. wire plus 3/16" compression- 1/8" NPT connector and weld fitting."

Can you confirm that you used a 1/8" NPT tap? I thought I read your post where you talked about the 5244 (performance probe) but I can't find it now. I want to go buy the tap now, since it will probably take me at least three hardware stores to find it...

No Machinist by trade .....

If there is a 1/8 NPT connector then that would be the correct tap to match ..... It should be a 5/16 diameter if so .... Drill size .339 , According to a chart ....

I also have a Competition probe, drilled and tapped manifold ....

Thanks Mac. I picked up the 1/8" NPT tap and drill. I plan on installing in the same place you put yours. Great pictures!
