No DIC - Oil Life and other information?

I have a 2005 DMax without the DIC. Is it possible to get some other information from the Digital Display on the panel such as Oil Life or some of the other information that I read about in some postings here that are available with the DIC?

The reason I ask is that during a recent oil change, the mechanic indicated that he know the computer had been reset before he had a chance to.

Would be good information to know I think before heading out on a longer trip. Could have the local folks change the oil if it was close.

The Message Center will flash a message about changing the oil, but most of us here rely more on a set mileage schedule (shorter than GM's recommended) to change the engine oil/filter.
