2003 Gooseneck 36'


Truck= 8200lb with me in it!
Trailer= 20500 (gooseneck)

Is this too heavy? Should I take stuff out of the trailer? What do you all think?
When I went across the Certified scales at the truck stop this was the report;
front 4700 rear 6500 trailer 18000.

Well, I think you are WITHIN range of the front and rear axle ratings, but you are over the max GCVW by about 6,000 lbs.

We ran 25,000 GCVW just fine with my 2500HD CC LB LT.

I think the only thing is you are going to get flamed pretty badly on here for pulling that kind of weight, but as long as you are licensed for that kind of weight & be aware of your stopping distances I think you will be all right.

I know of a guy that runs 45,000lbs GCVW with 95-2000 3500's with 454s in them with a stick!! :eek: :eek: He uses HYDRAULIC breaks on the trailer....

Can the allison and duramax handle this much weight?

I've pulled almost 32K gross already. It can do it no problem. Just have to start braking earlier thats all. I had over 9K on my rear axle and 17K on the trailer and just over 5K on the steer. The Duramax Allison combo is in the new C5500 series truck. That has a GVWR of 19,500 and a 26K GCVW rating. Load it up dude.

I am surprised also that someone hasn't flamed you for the weight you pull. I had 1000 miles on mine and I was pulling over 32k and have ever since. ( 37K on it now.) No problems. Now I have Banks exhaust and its juiced but what impresses me most is how well the suspension handles the weight. I am licensed to 40K. This pickup makes no excuses, load the trailer, hit tow /haul and go.
