Change oil message

Does the change oil message work on 02 Dmax's?
I have 8k on mine and it hasn't come on. Changed at 3k and will change again next week. Haven't done the reset routine.

From what I've read in the manuals that it could take up to a year for the message to be displayed. The oil change message is based on driving style and not milage.

The change oil message uses the computer to study things like driving style, mileage, engine temp etc. and then tells you when to change the oil. Might be at 5k might be anytime. Whenever you change the oil you should reset the system so it will be accurate for that oil change.

I changed mine twice but didn't reset the oil change message to see when it would come on. It alerted me at about 8150 miles. Then I reset it.

I have an 02 with around 11,500 miles. I have changed the oil 3 times already and I am due to do it again soon and I have never seen it come on either.

I just changed mine again (3rd time) at 12482 and it has never come on, I did reset it this time though. I also changed over to Amsoil 15w-40 this time and won't change this time until the light comes on or 7500 mi whichever comes first.

The message does work on the '02's, got mine about 8700 miles after doing 2 oil changes. Didn't know about getting it or resetting it, guess I need to read the manual again more closely this time. Thats whats so great about this forum, learning and being able to ask from those of you who know. Keep up the great work! smile.gif
