View Full Version : Power and RPM
I remember when we were killing 7.3's in the tow- trucks. We kept blowing the Alter-"naters" in the Ford. We bascily broke it down to, "I think that 4,500 RPM is killing it" answer. I wonder if our trucks pully system componets can handle such an exceleration in RPM's?
Does anyone know how this stuff is rated?

Look at how high an 8.1 or 6.0 revs...
Did you seriously have the 7.3's turning 4,500? I thought they were pretty much done by 3k???

Are you freakin crazy? 4500 RPM in a 7.3? I think the stock tach only goes to about 3800 or so. Crap they're not some ricer diesel.
As for 4500 RPM blowing the alternator I don't know. Never had truck at 4500 RPM. But that sure is a lot of spinnin.

That sounds like a recipe for seeing the INSIDE of the block or ventilating the hood. From together to apart in a hurry.
