VW's 5 liter 320hp/553 lb-ft diesel

I was wondering if you guys have heard about the new diesel engine option WV is introducing next year for the Touareg SUV.

Check out the specs:

V-10
5.0 Liter
320hp & 553lb-ft

Those numbers look an awful lot like the new LLY specs. Oh, and it has a 6-speed automatic and a tow rating of almost 8000#. Pretty impressive for a ~5000# mid size SUV.

A guy at work told me about it.He claimed that he read that it has a 0-60 time just slightly over 6 seconds.Just what I heard.

6 seconds is right. This is going to be the next diesel in my garage!

The Toureg is a serious off road capable vehicle with any of its engines and is very well finished. I suspect the diesel model to push $60 large however!!

Me too, but I'd love it if my wife's rig was a diesel Toureg. As it is, we'll settle on a Trailblazer sometime next year.

I've had the opportunity to drive one of these. Pretty darn impressive performance. The 6 A/T takes a bit of getting use to but this SUV gets with the program.

The euro diesel really have improved the NVH for a diesel engine.

Those that want power are going to want this over the V8 hands down.

Now just have to see how much VW is going to charge for it.

It's not out in North America yet. It's been out in Europe for over a year now. Won all kinds of awards, (the engine has).
