How much new '01?

My local dealer has a brand new '01 Dmax Std Cab long bed, 2wd LS on the lot. It only has 25 miles on it. :eek: Since a full model year is between it and whats arriving a dealers now, how much off the 33K window sticker could I get? Any ideas? My company is moving and needs a work truck, and I think this one would be ideal.

^...Considering the holdback they will receive, I'd say 1500 under invoice and the fact that they have it off of their lot, would be good for the both of you. For invoice, look on GMC's site for building one or carprice.com and build an LS just like it and get the invoice (either way).

I think you'd be crazy to buy it at only $1500 under invoice! The sticker price seems to be identical between the '01 and '02 model.

The bottom line is that you could buy a new '02 for $1549 above the '01 he has on the lot. The '02 will be worth about $2000 - 2500 more on the used vehicle side of things. So if you buy the '01 you are $500 to $1000 in the hole starting off!

If you buy an '02 or later, you'll have to get one with the cat and egr in CA. Could be a PITA later on, and complicates the add ons.

They both have the same warranty if you buy it new. I have an '01, built in October of 2000. They do lack a couple of new features like the extended visors. Nice, but I've never missed them.

Work the best deal you can and buy that sucker. Just make sure the dealer installs all the computer updates and campaigns before you pick it up.
