Is it normal to see lower oil pressure at idle once warmed up? 40 psi off idle,22 at idle.
Havent seen this before the By-Pass install.

I did not see a drop in oil pressure any where in the RPM range when I did my by-pass oil filter.

How big is the restrictor in the output of your by-pass filter? I used a 1/16

Howdy
warmed up at idle - 37-40 psi
on the road at 1800rpm 45-48 psi
This taken with a mecahinical gauge, NO difference between before and after bypass install. My reason for testing was that I heard that I might get a drop in PSI.
Hope this helps....

Bnave,

What year is your rig?

Both Dvldog8793 and CareyWeber have a 97 or later which I believe has a high volume oil pump. That could be the difference.

Good point. My truck actually has a 2003 AMG motor. so whatever pump AMG was using in 2003 is what my truck has.

Up dated profile.
I should then drill, open up restrictor? 1/32 bit.
Where on the By-pass would this be? Line in,line out. Prefilter,by-pass filter.
Can it be drilled mounted to truck?

Bnave95,

A little off subject, but how do you like your water injection?

Thanks..

I've built this system 4yrs ago. Yes I like it though it is not a full time user.
Only when I pull heavy loads, boost runs into 13-15psi. My IAT gauge will get into 220+deg.
With water the gauge won't come of it's seat.
Gauge at low point reads *140. Not a ture reading of air other then Manfold temp. At that time Auto Meter did not have a IAT guage so I went with a Cyl. Head guage.
It shows by seeing the Manf. heat drops alot.
It comes in at 10lbs. Has a dash and boost S/W that runs a pump at 60psi. Mist nozzle from Mcmaster-Carr,Copper-nickel,full cone pattern,9.49GPH.
I'll switch it on for more power on take offs and you can really feel it. I use 60% water and 40% Denatured Alcohol. 50-50% really kicks butt, though I should run a less flowing nozzle.
I've run 6 different flow ratings, but the one I'm using now seem to be the best for power and cooling.
I could run smaller, less flow and full time that would keep IAT at a low level.
Running 65mph,boost 7-8lbs on a hot day the IAT runs around 140-160deg. Still less then under hood temps. Every now and then I like those quick take offs :D MPG very with foot. ;)
After the years with it I see no ware on the turbo blades. This was one of the thought at the time about the water hitting the blades but the water is a mist.
