Which is the favorite OBD II code reader? Did a search but didn't come up with anything. I'm looking for one that will give you a meaning of the code as well as the number.

All suggestions welcome.

http://www.obd-2.com/

The only one I know of that reads TDC offset, fuel rate, timing, boost etc.

I bought a Hand Held OBD2 reader from ADVANCE
when I first had problems...

It does not read Diesel specfic codes.

Also will not reset " Defuel " mode .

Suspect it will not clear any of the Diesel unique
" Hidden " Codes. The one;s that require " KEY " off to reset.....

Before you buy a Cheapy, I suggest you call the Manufacture.....

Thr OBD-2 ( CARCODE ) was up dated last summer.
READS a LOT of data. Did have problems with
Graphs of enhanced data, Called, said they may get to it in a few months.

The updates are downloadable, free of charge...

Thanks rj and Andy. I like the OBD-2 program, but I don't have a laptop, yet. Won't get the cord to plug it into my desktop, not mobile.

Guess it's time to look into a used laptop.

Thanks again guys

Before my laptop arrived, I made up an extension cable to use my desktop with carcode. It was at least 80 foot long - probably closer to 100 ft. It worked without any problems. So, using your desktop is an option - however it's not very convenient.....

Snap On MT2500 scanner is what I use can be found on Ebay and most independent shops use them so maybe you can get a used but good one from Snap On dealer or shop going out of business. It does most of diagnostic tests of T2, but it works on all auto makes with correct cartridges. I've seen them $200-$2500 depending on year and accessories
