It's true! They are going to raise it! I just got back from the American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. It is a three week giant horse event. It is sponsered by GMC. I bought my 02 there last year. They sell a couple hundred trucks (GMC's) during that time. They have about three hundred trucks for sale. They also have other vendors and dealers there(Ford & Dodge's) Great deals. They also have two GM factory reps at the show with displays and trucks. The Factory guys are GM & Izussu Duramax & allison experts. They did a lot of the original testing and also do the warranty investigations of failed parts. They said that the motor is capable of almost 600 HP just like it sits, with just computer changes. Although it will take other mods to keep egt's in the safe ranges. They said that the 2004 Duramax will have more HP & torque. To answer Ford and Dodge's recent HP hike. GM will just do there hike via the computer. They said it will be about 40 or 50 Hp increase. They might also do some slight mods to the allison at that time in order to handle the increase HP if they go bigger. But they said it will most likely stay in the current ratings that the allison is rated to handle . They also said that there will be significant changes to the body style as well in 04. If your in the Columbus, OH area, go and check it out. They are at the State Fair grounds. And it runs thru the 27th of this month. I hope that sheds some light on the 04 season for you. Stay safe and keep trucking! "Bill" PS. I was talking to a trans guy there later this week, who told me that the allison is capable of being a six speed. He said it would need different computer programing some additional parts, like another servo and so on. He said there is another planet gear set already in there, and that maybe it will happenin the future. Although he wasn't a factory guy. He did sound like he knew what he was talking about. See Ya.
