Well I just picked up a 05 2500HD 6.6L Turbo w/ Alli. I got a killer deal on it ($32,500) and just had to get it. It doesn't have "everything" on it and that's just fine with me. I will be using it to haul my toys. I have gone over this section of the forum and so far it's great, thanks. What I am looking to do is get the best MPG out of it.

I'd leave it alone till I got some miles on it just to make sure theres no bugs in it. Also I'd change the oil and filter and the fuel filter after putting a few (1k-1500) on it just to get anything out that may have gotten in it at the plant. Dirt, sand, metal shavings, misc debris,,, that sort of stuff.

Change fluids early is my suggestion, particularly engine oil. First fuel filter is also likely the dirtiest. I did mine at my thrird oil change (3k on clock) and it was plenty dirty compared to typical 7-8k filter changes.

Thank you for the info. Does anyone have a specific schedule that they go by as far as maintenance? I have never owned a diesel before.

My personal suggestion is oil and filter every 5k and do the fuel filter every other oil change. Just my 2 cents though.

Where in south Indy do you live. I will be out that way looking for a job in the next couple of weeks. E-mail me tony01234@sbcglobal.net.

I should probably make my location a little more clear as you are not the first to think I'm in Indianapolis. I'm actually about an hour and forty-five minutes south of there in Southern Indiana just west of Louisville, KY. If your looking for a wrench spinning job though, you shouldn't have a problem finding a shop in Indy. There everywhere.

Well things have changed in the past month. My wife found a 5er that she fell in love with. It was at the limits of the 2500 :( . So today, just for the pure fun of it, we went to the dealer to look at the D/A 3500. Well what do you know we left with it. They paid off the new 2500 and got the 3500 for $34,015. Its the SLT Crew Cab with more then I know what to do with. I just could not say NO. Anyhow just wanted to update this thread :D
