View Full Version : Pyro Gauge Install
After ordering my Pyro gauge I started looking under the hood for just exactly where I might put this thing and holy crap! This new '06 Duramax must have been stuck in there with a shoe horn. I didn't see any way possible to even get at any parts of the exhaust, let alone a place to drill and tap a hole. The turbo is mounted on top and at the back of the motor under the hood cowel, and only the main pipe for the exhaust comes down.
Has anyone installed a pre-turbo pyro gauge on a '06 Duramax? I may have to hire someone to do this. :(

great question, im about to order guages, and will be wanting to know where and how too.
ill be doing a 30 psi boost and a egt guage..
I'm thinking what I may do now is just wait until the Edge with Attitude device comes out for the '06s. My understanding is that it displays the EGT from the factory sensor, which would be good enough for me.

Two articles are on the web site that show the location and describe pyrometer installation. The first in located in the Member Area archives and the second is in the public area.

I don't have access to that first one, but the second one shows a location that looks doable. I'll look again this weekend and see if I can get in there. I didn't realize you had to do this step even if I went with the Edge.
Thanks!!
