GMC vs Chevrolet Duramax/Allison 2500s

I am in the market for a used Duramax 3/4 ton truck. Seems like 2001 extended cab, short box models with 50K-75K miles are in my price range and fit my needs.

Questions:

1) What do I get with the HD package?
2) Is there any difference between GMC and Chevrolet models?
3) Any mechanical problems/warranty items/gotchas to watch out for in this model year?

I'd suggest 2002 model year or newer. Just because they had a full year of production to refine the product.

Look into current incentives. You might be surprised how little difference there is between new and used prices....

Locking rear is a must.
