which battery to hookup the winch

I have a 02 Dmax; does it really matter which battery I hook the winch to or not? With all the talk about them being hooked together I often wonder. Or is there a better way to hook up the winch wire, like a power post or something. I do have the factory dual alt's.

The batteries are parallel with no isolator, so there is no "main" or "auxiliary". I suggest you hook into the "jump start" post. It's a stud with plenty of thread left to add a good sized eye. It is about in the middle of the crossover, so no bias to either battery.

I was thinking of doing this to my truck to eliminate the trailer battery. Do/should you also run a ground wire all the way up to the engine compartment and will having this mod effect your warrenty in any way? Thanks.
