For less than $100, you can get a GPS that will show your speed in real time. Even Walmart has some that are very functional. It may keep you on the road until you can get this ironed out. Garmin E-trex has several models with the speed function. The base model was about $70, last I saw. I have an E-trex, in the lower/middle range, and it works very well.
Go to www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) and send them an email request, with your vehicle info, vin, and part(s) you need. They have been very quick to reply. If it's a GM part, they can get it to you. Their prices are usually about 50% of GM list, plus s/h.
I searched www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) 's catalog (among others), and none were listed. I suspect a vin will be required to match your correct cluster. It may also be a requirement that only a dealer can supply it, due to it having the odometer integrated.
You've got to have the P/N off the back of your cluster. Right now their on about a 4 weeks back order and for a gas engine truck cost me about $260. I ordered one for a truck two weeks ago so the wait time may have changed. your dealer can resd the P/N w/ a tech2 in a couple of minutes.
