my truck just has over 2000 miles but hooked up the 5er and headed to the freeway and it seemed to take a long time to gain speed once I hit the 50 mph area. was just wondering if it is just not broken in yet or does it have to do with the 285 tires weight of 5er was around 8000. had 6.0 previously and the higher reving it didnt seemed sluggish at all even with 285 on it but it did have 4.10's

well all trucks will react different to breakin but i tell you mine gets better every 1000 miles put om it and my brothers gets better with miles as well....jess

I'd say all of the above, PLUS the conservative programming required to meet EPA standards. There just isn't a lot of additional fuel allowed until the ir gets there. A power module/program will make all the difference in the world! This is where the Edge programming really shines as it gives best pedal response with least input.

To put it another way, the OE programming will ramp continuously to 20psi boost at max rpm. Down at 1800-2200, it will make 10-12 if yoyu are lucky before calling for a downshift. The Edge will get you well over 20 psi down low, and hold it out to the end...

I second what John has to say about the Edge when towing. My tralier goes the same kind of weigh yours does loaded up,(8K) and with the Edge it doesn't blink on the hills. It makes a great towing experience even better.

I'll agree with JK also. My 2003 was a dog compared to my 2000 6.0, and I thought I had made a mistake by trading for the diesel. However, once I added the juice to it, in Level 2, it tows like a whole different truck. No more full throttle just to maintain speed, and no shifting up and down. Pulls the same load over the same hill 10-15 mph faster than the 6.0 did. Well worth the price.

The first time I hauled my 12000lb. 5th. wheel at 1000 miles on my truck it didn't seem to want to accelerate past 55 mph. Now with 8000 on the truck it hauls ass.

I can go as fast as I would want to go but the lag between 55-65 is about a half mile or so

After my truck was broken in the lag time between 55 and 65 seemed greatly reduced.
