Power Stroke vs Duramax

In Motor Trend's Truck Trend Sept 2003 issue it compared the Duramax against the Power Stroke. Pulling trailers loaded and unloaded it says the Ford is faster and more powerful. The Ford had the advantage from the green light onwards, being almost a second ahead of the GMC by 70 and over 3 seconds by 90mph. Towing, The Ford recached 60 in an average 23.6 seconds with the GMC nearly seven seconds back in roll-on 50-70 overtaking the Ford won 11.9 versus 14.2 seconds. It also talks about the automatics saying even if GM wanted to tune in some more power , the Duramax/automatic couldn't be bumped up to 560lb-ft until the Allison is also uprated from its current 545 lb-ft maximum. However,all things being equal, the new PowerStroke made huge believers out ot us. Well we all new it was only a matter of time.

My main point is identical trucks, 30 months later towing a trailer, that is 2000 LB. lighter and it is 7 seconds slower.
Oh well life is not fair, but now matter, I don't plan on renewing my subscription after this BS

They did a comparison on the 2500 series, I believe (gas motors) with GM and Toyota Tundra (?) ...... I guy on the TDR pointed to some much miss info on the Dodge it was down right embarrassing to Truck Trend ..... I can dig up the thread on the TDR if you'd like,if I get a chance I'll do it later ..... After seeing that I will NOT renew my scrip .....So their credibility is SHOT .....

GM seems to be more honest in their advertizing because they have such a good product. No need to make claims like pulling ice breakers,airliners and such. The last time moving cattle with Dad the DMax did indeed out pull the 6.0 PSD. Unfortunately it was another friends truck that had the opportunity. The 6.0 PSD is loosing a lot of its glory in our clan. Another friends father in law has had his new one in 3 X. One for bad injectors and a hole in the piston and the other two to change out the injection pumps. The Dodges on the other hand are hanging in there quite well. These are the real world perform or get to the back of the line facts. No advertising involved.

I have no love for them either. I used to like reading those types of periodicals when I was younger and they actually had something informative in them. But they've all gone the way of Weekly World News. Half-truths, misinformation, sensationalism, advertising. It's pretty sad that they are exploited as they are.
