What does GM use in the factory for the oil in the d max when deliverd.
I was told by a mechanic at a Chev dealership that GM and Castol are affiliated and that Castrol is GM's oil. I have nothing to support the claim, but it may be a place to start.

Castrol is now part of BP (British Petroleum). They may have a deal with GM though on supplying oil for initial fill.

My dealer's parts man tells me that GM Canada uses PetroCan 15-40 packaged in the GM containers.

Last word I had was the initial fill was Mobil Delvac 1200S 15W-40 which is an excellent first fill oil. Then suggest switching to Delvac 1300S 15W-40 for subsequent fills or Delvac 1 5W-40
