View Full Version : EGT's on 1/4 miles runs ???
i ran my truck today and have a few questions .
first off i set max egt to 1350 . well my 1/8 mile it was 1350 and running back to stock config , right? so my question is , what is a safe limit for at the track to get my best times without hurting anything and also on the street towing under eveyday use ?
i launched in 4 wheel drive and it really took off , 1.94 60ft , not bad . should i put it back in 2wd or leave it in 4wd down the track?
ended up running 15.3 at 90mph this is with 315/70/17 bfgs and 125hp juice/attitude.
anythoughts ??????
just don't look at the gauge if you're worried about egt's :D
I haven't tested the ceiling with the Attitude, but most gauges don't read as high as we hit when stacking... ;)
Reality is, the Hot Juice will allow you to go further than you SHOULD.
oh john come on.....the ceiling with the attitiude is 1500 maximum with the egt hooked up unless you defeat it with the timer........as for stacked who knows.........lets just say hotter than my autometer guage will register :D dave
i just need to know where to put it so i can run a full 1/4 mile run and not have it pull off fuel before the end of the track . any thought on what my truck should run?
and also what about the 4wd thing , leave it in or put it 2wd going down the track .
john , how loud is that stainless 4" exhaust you have ?

I just ran my truck yesterday and with the Predator set to level 2, 65 HP and the Hot Juice with Attitude set to level 5, the truck went a 13.62 @ 101 mph, 1.995 60 ft. in 4WD. I am running 315/60R18 Nitto 404 Extremes, the track conditions were not all that good. My egt's were at 1500 on my Autometer gauge and the boost was 31 psi after the intercooler.
I peg my 1500 degree gauge for about 10 seconds dragracing or truckpulling
lower your torsen bars all the way down and run in 4wd at the track if you want low ET's and want to help keep the inner tierods from bending
The Attitude will read past the 1500 degree mark. I have hit 1800 degrees on the Attitude when stacked with the Quad 215 on 1/4 mile passes. It was only for a second or two at the end of the pass.
I can hit the 1500 degree mark pretty much at will as long as there is road to do so. 1700 degrees is pretty easy to hit and sustain on the 1/4 mile passes.
The slow probe on my SPA DG211 never goes above 1500 degrees, it usually is in the 1300 to 1400 degree range.
A lot depends on probe diameter/mass. Think of it like when your mother used to sterilize a needle to poke out a sliver. A bic lighter would make it glow quickly. Try that with a 1/8" round bar, and the results will be frustrating. The lighter flame isn't cooler, it just takes too long to heat the mass of the larger metal. That is why I run a .0625" diameter probe...
BMDMAX , i would like to see some pics of your truck, you tire size has me curious to what it looks like ? thanks , jasmhuber@earthlink.net
kennedy , could you tell me who has your stainless exhaust , maybe i can ask them what it sounds like . ? what kind of tip does it have , i was really leaning towards banks , but i like your service and knowledge . thanks on the egts temp , i just wanted to be sure and not destroy anything ,
mtomac , are you still running the stock turbo and injectors , ? what is done to your truck and is it the stock engine ? miles on it ? your truck amazes me
stock motor with stock turbo, stock injectors, stock fuel system, stock exhaust (w/o muffler at track) almost 70000 miles on the clock
mods are in signature
DATSBAD,
I shot you an email, let me know if you don't get it.
yeah i got the pics , looks great . thanks for all of everyones help.
i set my max egt point i 1500 , it stops there , how can i go higher ? unplug the lead for the egt gauge ? would that bypass it ?

press the bottom button on the attitude twice quickly. You might have to try a couple times. You will get a screen 'disable backdown' You can set 1-30 minutes and it will disable the egt backdown for that amount of time.
