We just got the message that the new engine will begin production in early December. It will cost $200 more. "Look for exciting horsepower and torque figures to be announced in the near future" Thats all for now.

more latest on the LLY duramax option.
as of now it will look like this.
2004-06 (mid cycle) LLY M74 allison auto.
LLY ML6 man. trans.

2007 LLY MW7 ALLISON 6-SPEED AUTO.
LLY ML6 MANUAL TRANS.

all of these are C(2 wheel drive) truck designations.

in 2008 the LLY will be offered in both C(2) and K(4wheel) designations and with the ML6 or allison 6-speed auto. this will be a NEW body style truck.

Did you say 6-speed Allison? Does that only come in 2wd? 4wd stays with 5-speed alli till 2008?

the 6 speed auto makes it's debut in 2007 on the 2 wheel drive LLY then moves to both in 2008 if that helps any.
also rumors of a v-10 gas pot in both 2 & 4 wheel drives around 2008.

When I ordered my new C-4500,the code was LRM and I just got my order confirmation and the code is LRX along with a pretty hefty price increase.Any one out there know what is different between the engines? Our plant which builds the dash for SUV's and P/UP's says the (GM900 series) SUV will change over in 2006 and the trucks will change over in 2007............JB6600.

I had an interesting conversation with a gm tech rep and stated as of right now he was not sure the egr would be standard on the new engine.Prelininary testing with the new turbo shows it is not necessary yet to meet emissions. Possiblly 05-06.The new turbo can better match airflow to fuel delivery to keep the emissions window tighter. The gm diesel program is way ahead of the governments mandated emissions regulations and has actually recieved some (grace if you will) on gasoline vehicles that do not reach standards. Lets hope no egr for now.

They announced the new power figures on the American Tractor Pull last night -310 (HP) & 560 (Tq).

It looks like we hold off the competition in tourqe until the new Cummins 1st quarter 04.

the EGR is not to be optional, it has been designed into the engine and is not being pulled

Saw GMC ad in December 2003 "This Old House" magazine that indicated the new Duramax has 565 Lb-Ft of torque (not 560 as previously indicated) and 310 Hp.

In his first post("I just ordered my LLY today,Lots of info on new engine"), maddog3 has the correct numbers - 310/580. Apparently all of the speculation is over and GM has finally released the numbers that we weren't allowed to talk about all this time... smile.gif

So here comes the new improved Dura/Ally combo complete with training wheels!! Its good marketing for sure the way Gm is letting the engine grow past its competition. Initially they gave us a nice package. Thanks to products(Edge, Van Ak) and people(like John Kennedy)we enthusiasts made it a great truck. Heres where it gets really interesting though-What are we willing to pay for this new truck??? I am not rushing to dump my 03 like I did my 02 6.0 gasser thats for sure. I paid almost 10,000 off sticker on my 42,000 rig. If not I would still be gassing it in my 6.0. If people fork out say 38-40K for these new 04's our earlier models should go up in value somewhat too. Lets watch and see what these fetch.
