I'm about to change the injection pump on my 95 6.5TD. A buddy of mine is going to set the timing for me once the pump is changed. Does anyone have the proper procedure to follow to do this job? The mechanical part will be easier if I know the steps to follow.
Any help would be great!
Mike

On the Join Us page, I think near the bottom, you'll find an R&R Guide that is excellent on this topic. It gives fairly detailed instructions for replacing an injection pump as well as a whole buncha the various junk parts on a 6.5 (starter, vac pump, blah, blah...). Its a hard copy and its about 20 bucks; well worth it.

The jobs not too hard, just involved.

Mark the old pump to the timing flange.
Remove entire Intake manifold.
Remove the oil fill tube and three small bolts on the inside to the Injection Pump.
Remove three nuts behind Injection Pump.
Remove nine fuel lines to Injection Pump.
Unplug three harnesses.
Now the Injection Pump comes off.

While the pump is off replace the PMD as well and don't forget to dig out the small resister chip inside the driver cavity and swap into the new driver box.

See it's not too bad. It should take you a full day.
