View Full Version : New noise at about 85 mph
Well I now have about 6000 miles on my ZF6. Yesterday, at about 85 mph I keep hearing a new noise that I have not noticed before. Not sure how to describe it--sort of a light 'diesel' rattle (more than normal for Dmax). If I slowly increase speed, it disappeared at about 90. If I accelerated hard, it disappearred immediately? Anyone else notice similiar situation?
Just be glad it was not a SIREN.............
It is probably the pilot injection. You were probably at the RPM shut off point. I'll bet.
MAC :D :D
I just did a search and got more info on pilot injection. But why do I only hear it SOMETIMES and not other times, at the same rpms?

You know.... I don't really hear the pilot injection turning off at 2500RPM and up on my truck. I do keep it below 2500RPM most of the time though. How do you like the 6 speed, I love mine! Just put some taller tires on today and I can tell it definitely makes a gear ratio difference, but I can still start out in 3rd with no problem. Just got to be a little more careful now.
1BADDMAX--Yea, I love the ZF6, other than the slightly squeecking clutch. About them larger tires--what size did you get and did the fuel mileage improve?
