View Full Version : I guess the Ford engineers aren't to proud of the new PSD.

Just thought this was interesting.

Quote:
"I saw and talked to some ford test engineers with a new 6.0 psd when they came into my brewery (no kidding!) Engine guys, they knew nothing about driveline or trannys.

The turn signal mirrors our huge! They looked nice, but they certainely looked they where going to get knocked out by trees in those tight new england driveways. But out here in the west where it is wide open they would work a little better.

The king ranch edition (southern saddle maker?????) interior was REALLY NICE!

BUT, the test guys told me to hold on to my 7.3s, They where not getting the mileage, durability and ease of service that they expected.

I got slammed on the Ford-Diesel.com board for saying that, but it is what two guys, obviously working for Ford or Navistar directly stated to me. I want a new one too, but when an engine tester says those things to me he lets me look at an unreleased model, I take their word for it."

I'm sure as in any new release they will have their bugs to work out. Seems matter how much testing they do , they get out to the public and
many new issues arrive. I don't think the Duramax
gets the mileage that was anticipated..

Is this a Navastar engine,Ford,Benz or what?

Ford has little track record on diesel engines of thier own and we know GM`s track record on thier own diesel er, coverted gasser (not good).

Ah, some of those aluminum head Escorts were pretty good.. :D

It's pur Navistar and you can be pretty sure it will be a good one.

Neither Ford, Dodge or GM makes their own diesel engines.

I really don't understand why they don't or can't. John Deer has recently designed a brand new clean sheet line of small industrial diesel engines that will compete with the overseas diesels like Mitsu, Yanamar and Kabota. The engines are American designed and built. (Probably some foreign parts).

JD uses Yanmar stuff right now in the small equipment..and have for years..

I may have to trade for a Ford if they never get my steering rattle fixed..

And take thousands of dollars in losses over a steering rattle? I'd save myself a few thousand and get it fixed with a little persuasion or a different service dept.
