View Full Version : SPEEDING TICKETS
I got pulled over on I-90 today doing 80 in a 65 and got a warning. Not only that, but the State Trooper told me he liked my gauges!! Anyone else got a speeding ticket (or warning) in their Duramax? How fast?

This is a new one for me, I usually hang out in the 6.2L and 6.5L forum, I guess there isn't too much bragging there about speeding tickets. I don't know whether to be happy for you or feel sorry that you got a ticket, either way, I find it amusing.
On a similar subject, every time I get pulled over in my little ol' 6.2 I get comments on the Light up Diesel Emblem, always get pulled over at night? I guess that's why I leave the lights on, signs the "warning" ticket.
Have fun!
I bought an Escort Passport 8500 because of my driving habits. I don't habitually speed or rely on the detector solely, but it does make me check speed, and can also stop me from flexing my Dmax muscle at inopportune times! I typically use my cruise control set it to a speed slightly over the posted limit (similar to traffic 5 mph or so over) that allows me to roll right through speed traps w/o so much as a second glance...
76mph in a 55 zone with my 6.5 suburban in Virginia a few years back. The trooper gave me a verbal (not written) warning and said to slow down. He said a speeding ticket would not look good back at work for me. I'm a CDL-A-PTX. He also commented on my suburban after seeing the gauges on the A-pillar.
I tend to stay out of that left lane as much as I can and stay just a few mph over the limit. Now with the high price of fuel, it pays to go a bit slower to get a few more mpg's. ;)
More Power

I drove a 6.2L non-turbo for several years, even during the 55-mph laws, and never got a speeding ticket. But, when the speed limits were raised, and soon after installing a turbocharger, I got busted..... Power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely.... :D

I got nailed in my 6.0 2500hd going 88 in a 65 pulling my 24' quad hauler. when the cop asked my why I was in such a hurry I told him he looked bored sitting in the median so I hammered it to give him something to do. He got a laugh out of it and I got off w/out a thing. We ended up sitting on the side of ot road for about a half hour talking quads and even let him in my trailer to check out my race bikes.
Got pulled over in town doing 55 in a 45 zone. I was sick and trying to get home before I got worse. When the officer walked up to the window, I had to push him back out of the way to keep from barfing on him. He wasn't impressed. I got the ticket anyway.

That will teach you not to push him out of the way next time!! :D
