2006 duramax

Hello,

is there any info on the 2006 duramax for the pick-up`s? What about the compression ratio? :confused:

In the chevy van`s for 2006 the compression is be lower then the 2005 pick-up`s and truck`s

I haven't heard of ANY C/R changes planned, for any reason. Supposedely, the release of the engine in vehicles not equipped with the Allison tranny will be detuned to accomodate the 4L85E tranny. 250ish HP.

How much horsepower can the 4L85E tranny handle?
Is it significantly bigger/longer than the 4L80E?
Would the detuned DMAX and 4L85E fit in a
suburban without a body lift? Sounds feasible to me
but I am just a country hick.

The 4L85-E comes with the same torque limit as the 4L80-E -- 440 lb-ft.

Not coincidentally, the stated 250 hp is torque limited to 440.

As was mentioned in a recent magazine about the Ford 6.0L being detuned in the vans, the reason given was that the engine installation doesn't provide for as good an airflow and overall cooling as when in a pickup truck.

There are probably other reasons why vans don't get the same power as a pickup - like vans aren't used to tow mondo 5th wheel trailers and the van market isn't as hung-up on power (owners, owner groups & magazine reviewers, etc.)....

Steve, I think you are on target. One of the stated reason for no Duramax in the Suburban was the size of the Allison. Now with the smaller GM automatic available, that excuse is gone. Duramax Suburban General Motors?

Duramax Suburban is coming. Supposed to be in the new GMT900 chassis that will be replacing the current GMT800 chassis.

Slated for the all new design '07 Suburban to be introduced May '06.

All New GMT900 Chassis =
'07 Tahoe Jan '06
'07 Suburban May '06
'07 Avalanche July '06
'08 Silverado Jan '07

The Avalanche will follow the SUV's in looks and the SUV's will look different than the Silverado's.

I was over at the ***********, there was a tread also about the 2006 duramax, there was someone that said the horsepower wood be 360 and the torqeu wood be 640, for the truck`s, there was also speeking about the allison 6 speed.

Yes Quadrasteer is gone.

Maybe it will be back someday like airbags. I think it was the 1978 Toronado that had airbags when the consumer wasn't interested or willing to pay.

Yes Quadrasteer is gone. That sucks. I would have been more than willing to pay for it on a 2500HD.
