I was wondering 2 things, first, the tachometer. What is the actual redline for the Duramax, and what happens in the red dotted area? 2nd, My 2005 Duramax 3500 CC Dually has a 2 in the VIN which is supposed to be the LLY, however, my truck has the ZF six speed, so I thought all of those were the LB7. Does anyone know for sure which one and the HP/Torque figures?
Thanks

The redline under acceleration is where the red starts. It goes right up to the solid red bar under deceleration(ie, going down hill in a lower gear). Try to keep it under the red zone for best engine health.
The LLY engine comes with the ZF trans., but it is detuned to LB7 hp/tq. specs.
My redline starts at about 3200. When you push 3000 rpms I can feel the engine moving out of the power band, and its time to shift. I can hold a gear at about 3000 if I want, but its screaming to be shifted.
