View Full Version : Fuel Starved Engine
I've got a 2002 D/A with 67,000 miles on it; stock. The other day it refused to start, after sitting all night. It cranked but acted like it was fuel starved. I pumped the fuel pump primer a few times until I felt resistance. Then it started right up. Question.......Is this a one time thing, or the start of an injector or pump failure? Thanks for the help. I still love this truck!

It could be a leaking fuel filter gasket, filter that's not tight enough, WIF sensor loose/leaking, cracked/loose fuel filter housing. This is a suction fuel system, so everything south of the pump has a vacuum on it and anything that is loose or leaking can cause loss of prime or air to get in. Check it all out. When was the fuel filter changed last? Sometimes the old gasket sticks to the housing and then the new one won't seat.
I've got about 8k miles since the last fuel filter change. I'll check out your solution. Thanks for the advice.
