We just got our paws on one of I think 5 LBZ's in a 30 mile radius :D The motor is quiet, smooth, though we have yet to tow with it so I have no clue how the power is. It's the first chevy we've gotten since....1990 due to VERY bad luck.
However the alison tranny looked promsing and the 6.6 has been doing just as good as anything else seems to. Not to mention, this is the nicest interior HANDS DOWN!!!
Questions,
Anyone come up with fuel economy #'s? towing and not towing?
Any quirks you've noticed thus far?
And by the way, how many of you actually have one of these things?

and my #1 question....
HOW LONG TILL THIS THING CAN BE FLAGGED AS BROKEN IN?

Thanks

I will be able to tell you soon, as my new dmax will be here on the 28th.I will give the truck a local and highway run before pulling a 5th. wheel to Arizona in the new year.
I believe breakin on my 01 dmax was 1000km.

To answer your #1 question.... I'd put 1000 miles on it first, change the oil, then see what you've got....

I heard recently from one fellow in Kentucky who was reporting a $3500 premium for the LBZ over the 2006 LLY's in stock at one dealership....

It appears they're trying to move the LLY's first by using a lower rebate or incentive on the LBZ... :(

you are correct. just bought the 2006 with the LLY and they added $1500 in addition to the red tag sale.

our dealer was too stupid to know the difference, they said same price for either motor... heh, obviously we pick the more powerful one :D

I took kennedys advice and changed the oil on my 05 several times before it hit 1000miles. I would recommend that first. As to being broke in dont be afraid to pull with it fairly soon as it will help seat the rings.
