Just returnedfrom a 4911 mile road trip from
ohio to LA california in my 01 D-max Allison
3500 4x4.On I-70 pulling a 3500 pound 20ft.
gooseneck trailer first fuel stop in Kansas,
869.7 miles took 61.071 gallons,or 14.24 mpg.
(I have a 60 gallon bed tank).Across Rt70 to 15
south the Dmax ran great, plenty of power throught
the mountains. The Ac didn't work very well at
times in the 112 degree Las vegas heat.Picked up
a 3500 pound tractor in LA then went east on I40.
Kind of hard to figure milage from there as we
made stops at Las vegas, hoover dam, grand canyon.
10 days,4911 miles,427 gallons of fuel.One
interesting thing we were passed several times
with what looked like an experimental car, covered
with what looked like flat black vinyl, body,
wheels, bumpers everything. At an overlook we saw
them changing plates. When I got my camera out
they took off,but I got a couple pictures.
If you want to see it just email me.
