6 Month Inspection???

I just had a call from the dealer this afternoon. I was informed that I am required to have My truck inspected every 6 months, and get this, at My expense($54.00). Has anyone heard of this before?
On another suject, has anyone inspected the rear brake rotor's? The ones on My truck are becoming severally ridged. I suspect from Gravel stones getting on top of the rear rotors and sitting there wearing into the rotor. I have 19500 Kms. on the truck. 2003 Ext cab 4X4 etc.

Probably it's for some kind of rust protection program you bought and didn't even know it.

I live in New Hampshire, (US) Here if one registers over 9,999 lbs. vehicle must be inspected every 6 months. Does your Province have a similar program?

We in the commercial trucking field just think that the state wants the extra money ;)

On My previous message I should have said the gravel seems to sit on the caliper and wear into the rotor on the back brakes. It didn't make much sense the way I first wrote it.
I am on My way in to see the dealer today and see if I can get some explanation of the inspection in writing.

It is a cash grab, heard it on the radio today, it's a GM thing, tell them to stuff it and find a new dealer. The rock problem you are having is easily fixed, GM has a TSB on it.

Yes there is a TSB but no warranty. This is clearly a design problem I would think. What designer would put the calipers on the front of the rotor? This just makes a ledge or trap to allow stonws to sit there and grind the rotors away.

I just bolted mud flaps to the fender in front of the wheel. It workes well on my dually and looks good to. I do 50000 to 60000 Km gravel a year and it cured my problem, just need to put new flaps on twice a year. Make sure you get them tight to the springs.
