Could someone give me the part number for the waste gate vacuum actuator for a 95 6.5. My son was quoted almost $200 for one today and I am sure they are around $40 to $50. This is not the vacuum solenoid just the vac unit that moves the waste gate lever.

I looked it up on Grand Pontiac's site and they show a waste gate actuator assembly for around $200.

thanks

The Electronic Solenoid is about $40. The mechanical arm assembly could be $200.

Does the diaphragm leak?

The diaphragm leaks. I think the solution is to replace it with a mechanical adjustor for less than a third of the cost.

I verified the correct item at the dealer today while I was getting some thermostat gaskets for my 96 6.5. Had them stick closed on a camping trip this past weekend. Hopefully I didn't do any damage to head gaskets.

Also today mine wouldn't start in the garage. I fished out the driver module cable and hooked up a spare I have and it started. It also started with the original when reconnected. Maybe bad connection??? My Tech scan tool showed a 1216 code and a couple of others related to cruise control and something else. This is still the original module and 20k still left on warranty. Hasn't there been some problems with the cable? I know a new one is recommended by stanadyne when a new module is installed.

auto,
I'm pretty sure a new fsd does not come w/a new wiring harness (when I bought one from Stanadyne dealer it didn't) but a new IP does.

An easy way to make sure the actuator is leaking is to reverse the two hoses on the wastegate solenoid, start the enging for a few seconds then shut it off. The wastegate should stay closed tight if it isn't leaking.
You don't want to drive like that though since the boost will go way too high and set a code.

Actuature failure was verified by trying to pulling a vacuum on it and it wouldn't hold one.

I have an actuator that I removed from a GM-8. If you give me an email address I will send a picture of it.

I was in Flow Chevy dealership yesterday and tried that. It's the same company but different division. They give me a goodn price break but it's not a lot.

GM parts direct puts a big surcharge on their items for shipping and handeling to pay for the web site and overhead. Flow dealer parts guy said it's still cheaper than buying from them (dealer)though.
