Check-out Nick Damico's (ndamico) website (http://www.wackywack.com/dmax.htm). He has some excelent pictures of his CAT install near the fuel filler neck including plumbing (page down to the bottom). smile.gif

I looked up the site but not enough info on installing fuel line hookups. Interested in how the fuel lines come apart and what size hose etc. and also where the connections should be made. Thank You

D/A,

There are two ways to tap into the fuel line. 1. You can cut out a section of the steel fuel line that runs along the frame and connect with hose and clamps (or compression fittings). 2. You can tap in by removing the OEM hose (http://community.webshots.com/photo/67970835/72256041LaCXPA) between the tank and the steel line behind the cooler. The nominal OD of the steel line and tank nipple is 1/2". I removed the OEM hose and used 7/16" ID gates hose (per Tommy's recommendation) to connect (http://community.webshots.com/photo/77018086/78005228CHjpzK) my liftpump/pre-filter between the tank and the steel line. The 7/16 hose makes a good tight seal with hose clamps – especially on the tank nipple. To remove the OEM hose you need a fuel line disconnect tool (http://community.webshots.com/photo/67970835/72255850UuKWsX) and not all tools are alike. You need one that has a collar that’s long enough to depress the clips (http://community.webshots.com/photo/67970835/72256238bjrjGJ) that catch the bump on the tube. It’s a little tricky to get the tool lined up with ALL the tabs at once, but once they are aligned and depressed the connection comes apart. Hope this helps… smile.gif

Thanks for all your help looks like I have got everything I need to tackle the job except the tool which I will have to find somewhere. I am just going to install the filter back at the tank hope my pump can draw through it without an additional pump. Thanks again for all the info!!!

Once again Thanks for all the great help I recieved I just finished installing the pre Cat filter very easy install. I cut into the rubber braided line and installed 1/2" brass coplings with hose clamps. With the rear of the vehicle jacked up for access only lost about 1 cup of fuel then it stopped installed the hoses to the Cat filter primed and good to go. Very happy truck runs perfectly love the clean fuel.

I installed my Racor pre-oem filter yesterday as well. I cut the steel line along frame rail & attached hoses. I feel better knowing iam not sand blasting my injectors & pump now...
